Methodology

Can Pickler account for packaging layers such as pack, case and pallet?

Yes. Pickler can account for product, pack, case and pallet layers where those layers are relevant to the product footprint.

Full answer

Many products are not shipped as a single item without surrounding packaging. Secondary and tertiary packaging can affect the total footprint, especially when products are distributed in cases, pallets, wraps or transport packaging.

Pickler can structure these layers so their impact is allocated to the product. This helps prevent under- or overestimating impact and supports more consistent comparison between products with different packaging configurations.

Example

If a product is shipped in cases and on pallets, Pickler can use the number of units per layer to allocate the impact of those layers to an individual product.

How Pickler helps

Pickler’s calculation setup includes product and packaging hierarchy fields so teams can calculate a more complete product system where relevant.
