Commercial use

How do I answer a customer who asks “is this really more sustainable?”

Do not answer with intuition alone. Compare the alternatives with the same method, explain the trade-offs and show why one option performs better or worse.

Full answer

Sustainability claims often sound simple, but product impact is rarely obvious. A recycled, biobased, lighter or local option is not automatically the lower-impact choice in every case.

The best answer is a comparison that uses the same calculation rules for both options. That gives commercial teams a safer and more useful way to guide the customer.

  • Compare products using the same scope
  • Show trade-offs between materials, production, transport and end of life
  • Explain why the result may be different from expectations
  • Use data to support the recommendation

Example

A buyer assumes the biobased product is always better, but wants proof before switching.
